We all know that “Namma Ooru” Chennai celebrated its 376th birthday on August 22nd of 2015. Many creative infographics, illustrations, videos and images went viral on all Social Media platforms. They were informative, funny and provided many unknown information about our own Chennai. Here, we present to you some of the best creative and innovative ideas which caught people’s attention online:
1. Urban Tree Infrastructures
They came up with the coolest illustrations portraying how Chennai evolved from retro to modern style. Right from the dressing style to entertainment and infrastructures, they differentiated beautifully the transformation of Chennai with clear illustrations.

2. Empower Pages
Empower Pages came up with a creative series which takes a beautiful beggar on a ride through the famous landmarks of Chennai, with the impact of our Superstar. Accompanied by artistic illustrations, they covered famous places of Chennai and ended their series of posts with a bang!! 3. OLX
OLX did something more than just an illustration. They shot a video for Madras day with the title #SoundOfSelling- Madras style which tells about the different faces of people selling different items on Chennai. It featured BGM and sounds of selling products and lived up to its title. It was indeed innovative and well directed.

4. Vikatan Magazine
Vikatan tamil magazine came up with a series of collages, pictures of old madras and stories about them. And they also shared other innovatively made Madras day posters, videos and illustrations from their Facebook page, thus contributing to Madras Day celebrations.

5. Radio Mirchi – Tamil
A video thanking Chennai and series of illustrations describing the attributes of Chennai is what Radio Mirchi did for Madras day. The video featured their own Radio Jockeys along with ‘Mirchi’ Senthil, who is a famous personality in Tamil movies and serials.

6. I am Madras
They had a unique idea of merging old pictures of madras to that of the latest pictures of Chennai. They merged the pictures of places like Casino theatre, Central station, Egmore, Corporation of Madras and many more. It got 3000 likes and almost 4000+ shares. 7. The sight media
The sight media took the song of anirudh’s album “chancey ila” and reproduced it beautifully shot visuals which portrayed the greatness and the happiness of living in Chennai. The video had the title “Celebrating Chennai | A chanceyila tribute” and has over 1, 50,000 views in its account and it is still counting.

8. Vinayak Hyundai
The Vinayak Hyundai came up with a collection of old pictures of madras. Their collection included Napier bridge, Madras museum, Higginbothams, Kapaleeshwarar temple and much more.

9. Error Studio
Error studio came up with a 4 minute video featuring the one-liner’s of each and every famous places of Chennai and also talks about the advantages of being in Chennai and the attractions of Chennai. It sure boasts about Chennai and ends in a good note. They got good number of views and shares.

10. Contribution from Newspapers
The Hindu Tamil came up with a cover story of Chennai’s history and its achievements over years. Daily Thanthi, Dinakaran and other newspapers came up with a special column for Madras day celebrations.
