EchoVME was in dire need of some electrifying and spirited energy this week, which resulted in Ms. Khushi Rekha Chitalia making an appearance with a gender-stereotype crushing attitude.
She began by introducing herself as a choreographer who began her journey of running a dance studio on a whim. She graduated in the year of 2010 and specialized as an HR for a few years. Dancing had always been in her blood and Khushi’s family was never against this passion of hers until the time she realized that it was her calling in life, after all! People passed remarks aiming at her body type, which they presumed wasn’t one for such a performance art. But against all odds, Khushi managed to kick start a dance studio that barely exceeded 500 square feet of space. This, however, was the beginning to many milestones she would achieve down the line.
Making the best of what was available to her, Khushi refused to give in to the negative voices in her mind, which were merely the voices of people that didn’t believe in her abilities. She is a believer of ‘karma’ which refers to the spiritual principle of cause and effect where the intent and actions of an individual (cause) influences the future of that individual (effect). She admittedly spoke about the maxim of Law & Attraction of which she is an honest believer. She referred to us the much heard of best-seller—“The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne in regards to this maxim that millions swear by.
She shared one of the many instances in her life where this maxim worked for her, and how she came out victorious from this situation that was filled with desperation. Her reason for running a successful business as a choreographer was her cheery personality and her ability to always go the extra mile for her clients without demanding reciprocation. Apart from these, her excellent work is why people prefer going to her studio. She also chooses to offer lower prices compared to market rates because she believes that dancing isn’t something that people should think of as a luxury, and anyone with a passion for dancing should be able to afford classes and explore their potential.
Half session down, we decided to escalate on to the fun bit… the dancing, of course! Khushi was kind enough to teach us 5 different moves which we were to pull off on a loop, to a peppy Bollywood tune. She was a natural at choreography, giving us instructions that were easy to understand, not to mention hilarious as she likes to keep her sessions light with a lot of laughter.
We successfully pulled off these groovy moves while enjoying every bit of it. With this, Khushi concluded her session wishing us the best of endeavors. We collectively seemed to agree that we need more sessions like these; ones that leave you full of energy to tackle whatever life may throw at you. And that was all for the enthralling Friday at EchoVME.
